Held at the super cool Pier 59 studios at the Chelsea Piers the A détacher show was an oxymoron of quirky and structured. Designer Mona Kowalska covered both sides of the color spectrum for Fall 2012, there were heavy dosages of blacks with punches of bright neons. There was also a variety of polka dots and floral prints. Although I wouldn’t necessary wear any of the clothes I can definitely appreciate the design, oh! And I loved the makeup and the cute beanies! El desfile de A détacher se llevó a cabo en los súper cool Pier 59 Studios en Chelsea. La colección fue un oxímoron entre peculiar y estructurado. La diseñadora Mona Kowalska cubrió ambos lados del espectro de colores para esta temporada, hubo mucho negro con acento de neones. También una variedad de prints y estampados florales. A pesar de que yo no usaría esta moda realmente puedo apreciar el diseño, ah! y me encantó el maquillaje y los gorritos!

I am back in Mexico City after an amazing 2 weeks filled with fashion, friends and fun! I honestly feel like the luckiest girl in the world, I LOVE my job! Remember last season I attended my first show ever in NYFW and it was Kati Stern’s Venexiana? Well this season I got to go again and was so excited to sit and catch up with my friend Reinaldo Irizarry. Stern’s gowns were as usual very glamorous and intricate but I must admit that I liked last season’s collection much better although I completely fell in love with that last velvet dress, the draping, the back, the color, just exquisite, don’t you think?! Ya estoy de regreso en la ciudad de México después de 2 semanas llenas de moda, amigos y diversión! Sinceramente me siento como la niña más afortunada del mundo, AMO mi trabajo! Se acuerdan que la temporada pasada asistí a mi primer show en NYFW y fue de Venexiana? Bueno, pues esta temporada me toco ir de nuevo y feliz por que me senté con mi amigo Reinaldo Irizarry y por fin nos pusimos al tanto. Como de costumbre los vestidos de Kati Stern, eran muy glamorosos y llenos de detalle, pero debo admitir que me gustó mucho más la colección pasada, aunque quedé completamente enamorada de el último vestido de terciopelo; el drapeado, la espalda, el color, simplemente divino, no creen?!

As you know from previous posts I am a huge Gwen Stefani fan so imagine my excitement when last Saturday I got to attend the L.A.M.B. Fall 2012 presentation(!) Black-and-white iconic photos of New York City in the 1960s provided the backdrop for plaid and checkerd looks, contrasted by pops of neons. The Peter-Pan collars and buttoned-up librarian looks were main characters of the collection. I thought the styling was so cute from the cat eyed glasses to the beehives and all the way to the fun make-up and manicure. I also loved the chunky sweaters and can’t wait to get my hands on the super stylish shirt dresses. Overall the collection was typical Gwen, a bit cheeky, extra stylish and oh-so-chic. Are you a L.A.M.B. fan, what did you think of the collection? Como ya saben por posts pasados soy súper fan de Gwen Stefani así que imaginen mi emoción cuando el sábado pasado pude a asistir a la presentación de L.A.M.B. Otoño 2012(!) Fotos en blanco y negro de la ciudad de Nueva York en la década de 1960 fueron el telón de fondo para los looks plaid y checkerd, que contrastaban con pops de neón. Los collares de Peter-Pan y looks bibliotecarios fueron los grandes protagonistas de la colección. Me encantó el styling desde las gafas de secretaria, el peinado a la Amy Winehouse, hasta el divertido maquillaje y manicure. También me encantaron los suéteres gruesos y los vestidos estilo camisa. En general, la colección fue típica Gwen, un poco cheeky, stylish y extra chic. A ti qué te pareció la colección? xo-M.

Hello MinkLovers! So thursday morning we headed to Lincoln center to see our first show of the season and the debut collection from fashion editor Katherine Polk’s new line, Houghton. I must say I was so impressed by this 70’s feel beautifully tailored monochromatic collection. I mean I am obsessed with the cream tuxedo look, super sexy-classy! It truly was a vision in white! During the fitting for the show designer Katherine Polk listed Katharine Hepburn and Patti Smith as her main inspirations and described the Houghton girl as “edgy, a little androgynous and full of attitude”,”besides the clothes themselves, I’ve always said that casting the right girl or girls is the most important thing to me,” Polk adds. “The way they carry your clothes is everything.” We are thrilled our model Cristina Piccone was part of this wonderful show. Hola! El jueves por la mañana nos dirigimos a Lincoln Center a nuestro primer show de la temporada y la primera colección de la nueva línea de la editora de moda Katherine Polk, Houghton. Me encantó el tuxedo look, súper sexy-classy! Realmente fue una mágica visión blanca! Quedé impresionada con el look setentero de esta colección monocromática. Durante el fitting la diseñadora Katherine Polk nombro a Katharine Hepburn y Patti Smith como sus principales inspiraciones, y describió a la chica Houghton como “edgy, un poco andrógina y llena de actitud”, “además de las propias prendas, siempre he dicho que el casting de la chica adecuada es lo más importante para mí “, añadió Polk. “La forma de llevar la ropa lo es todo.” Estamos súper orgullosos de nuestra modelo Mexicana Cristina Piccone por ser parte de este maravilloso show. It’s that time of the year again…New York Fashion Week! I am sooooo excited to be back in the city that I love so much, these past few days have been crazy busy running around with Paragon’s model Cristina Piccone going to different castings and showrooms all over the city.
